Homemade suitcase table
Welcome back dear readers to another fun and unusual post here at the Craftcorners crafts blog. Today we’re going to be taking a look at another fun project that takes the concept of vintage style and turns it into something eminently irresistible, kitsch, and perhaps most importantly usable. The craft we’re going to be taking a look at today is the concept of the suitcase table. That is, we’re going to be taking a vintage (or perhaps not so vintage) suitcase and turning it into a fun and gorgeous table that we’ll be able to use for the purpose of display. Let’s get to it!
What You’ll Need
- Drill and screws.
- Marker
- Wooden pegs or table legs. These should match the style, design and color of the suitcase you’ll be working with.
- Vintage suitcase (you can also use a craft mates lockable case)
What To Do
You’ll want to start off by marking off where you want to space out the table legs on the suitcase. You can do this by simply placing your case atop the legs – once you’ve got it balanced, you can then make marks for the leg placement on the inside of the case. Next, you’ll use these marks to drill some holes – these holes will be used to attach the table legs to the case. Note that you only need to drill through one side of the suitcase, so pick whichever side is more aesthetically pleasing for the topside of your table and drill through the other one.
Once you’ve got your holes, you’ll drill into the legs themselves and then attach with screws. Your basic table design should now be complete. You can go the extra mile though by really decorating the top of your suitcase with something fun, like a chess set leather board.
