If you’re looking to decorate your little one’s room, then we have the perfect ideas for you. Decorating a kid’s room can sometimes be more fun than decorating the rest of your house because you get to choose whatever theme your child wants. Keep reading for some helpful tips to make sure you have everything covered for a fun, awesome child’s bedroom.
Have fun with accessories
While you don’t want to buy into trends that can fade with time, you should consider getting things that are great for a child’s creativity. Things like hanging door beads or some fun accent pillows are perfect. While you may be turned off from making your child’s room in a complete camo theme, you might want to do small accents of it throughout the room so it doesn’t completely overwhelm the senses.
Buy for the future
While most people think that the first step after going from a crib is to go to a twin bed, that shouldn’t be the case. You’ll want to buy at least a full mattress, especially if your child happens to be taller for their age. Speaking from experience, it can be very tiresome being 5’8” and trying to squeeze myself into a twin bed for all of college. Buy a queen preferably for your child so they can grow into it later.
Decorate with style
Your child may not get subtleties that most adults think of when decorating, but you should think about fun additions that can be easy to install and are fun for both of you. Putting in something like some Disney princess wall stickers can be perfect, not only are they easy to apply but they don’t damage any of your painted walls.
Make your kids do the work
I speak from experience, one of my best friends painted her room bright neon pink and traced out stars and painted them black all over her room. She felt accomplished in knowing that she completely decorated her room herself, because not only was she the one that got to do it all herself, but she could sit back and admire her work every day. So if you have your child or teen decorate their own room for a summer project then they’ll start their new school year with a great new outlook. Something like a moon wall décor would have fit in perfectly with my friend’s image.
