DIY Sparkle Flats
Jun
Here at the Craftcorners crafting blog we’re big fans of any and all crafting projects (duh), but we’re especially excited when it comes to projects, crafts and ideas that fall into the wearable category. There’s just nothing quite like putting together an item with your own hands that you can that you can go on and show off to the world in pride. That’s why today, if you haven’t guessed yet, we’re excited to show you how to make yet another fantastic wearable item. The topic of today’s craft is the sparkle flats – these are sparkly shoes that you can use for a fun day out. Excited yet? Great, because it’s time to get started!
What You’ll Need
- A pair of flats that you’d like to decorate.
- Your favorite shade of glitter (you can also make due with a HP magenta toner cartridge in a pinch)
- Fabric adhesive glue
- Hairspray to be used as sealant
What To Do
The actual making of the shoes is really not very complicated, making this an ideal project for younger or less experienced crafters – either way though its sure to look great. You’ll want to start off by cleaning your flats and drying them to make sure you’ve got a nice quality surface material to work with. Next you can apply fabric adhesive to the areas you’d like to modify and decorate.
After applying the adhesive, you’ll want to liberally apply glitter to your flats. Don’t be conservative with the application of glitter – in fact you can even make several layers of applications with the glitter to achieve a heavier and more metallic appearance. Be sure to seal each individual layer of glitter with a good helping of hairspray. This will act as a sealant as well as an additional glue to keep your contraption together. For a finishing touch, you can consider adding a fun elastic tie down cord and ribbon.
