Helping your child make a baby blanket

baby blanket crochet kit, Wondering how to keep your kids busy enough this summer for them to not wreak havoc on the neighborhood?  One of the best ways to do this is to get them interested in a craft that they will enjoy spending time on.  A few such crafts include the arts of knitting or crocheting.  If you can get your kids hooked on one of these hobbies, they will want to spend a little bit of time each day perfecting their latest projects.

Here’s how you can get your child to start crocheting:

Step 1 – The materials

The first thing you are going to want to get in order to jump start your child’s interest in crocheting is a baby blanket crochet kit.  A baby blanket is a relatively easy crochet project, yet challenging enough to keep a kid interested.   They may, of course, need some help from you at times, and this is a great way for you to spend some quality time with your child as you work on a project together.

Step 2 – Get fabric ready

Iron your fabric and make sure it’s nice and neat before you begin your work.

Step 3 – Sewing

Take your fabrics and place them so that they face one another and then sew them together with a thread that matches their color.

Step 4 – Completing your baby blanket

Now that you have sewed the fabrics together, pull the baby blanket inside out so that the outside is facing out.  You will see that you are left with some openings along the edges, sew those shut.

By completing just a few simple steps, your child can complete his or her first baby blanket this summer – an accomplishment indeed and a great way to keep your child busy.  Set the blanket up on a baby crib and garnish it with a few plush blanket buddies and you are done!
