Make your own Chinese Checkers board
Board games are a dime a dozen and can be purchased at any toy store. Pieces like toy poker chips often get lost and the cheaply made boards fall apart after usage. So how can you have your own high quality board game? Make your own. As one of the few board games that is made with a high quality substance like wood, the Chinese Checkers game is the perfect opportunity to create a truly beautiful and unique game for your home that can also function as a work of art.
Items you need:
- Ruler
- ½ inch core box bit
- Wood stain or varish
- Sandpaper
- Pencil
- Printout of game board
- Power drill
How to make it:
1. Cut a circular board with an 18 inch diameter. The thickness of the wood is up to you but make sure it is at least ½ inch thick.
2. Print out a copy of the Chinese Checkers board layout and lay it on top of the wood, using a pencil to outline everything.
3. After marking a point at each necessary, use a ½ inch core box bit, drill a ¼ inch hole at each point.
4. Sand down the board to create smooth grooves and apply a wood stain finish to ensure the durability of the board.
For game pieces, you should head down to the toy store and pick up some colored marbles which should fit nicely into the grooves.
